Most of the time I just do not have the time to go to the salon to get my hair done these days, and it’s much easier to just do it at home. I can be a little biased since I am a cosmetologist however, I find the time and savings to be worth it. I’m always on the lookout for the latest hair tools and styles and trying different looks, however this is one of my quick blowout styles I like to do right after wash day.

I recently perfected my routine using my favorite Wavytalk 5-in-1 tool, and the entire process took only 20 to 30 minutes. Here is exactly how I did it.

What You’ll Need

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Prep the hair Start with clean hair. I find that washing my hair the night before provides the perfect base—it’s dry enough to style quickly but still fresh.

2. Protect Your Strands Never skip this! Apply your favorite heat protectant evenly throughout your hair to prevent damage and keep your ends looking healthy.

3. The Blowout Technique Using the Wavytalk tool, work in sections. The secret to that “extra” volume is to over-direct the hair. Pull the hair upward and slightly forward away from your natural fall as you style. This creates maximum lift at the root.

4. Smooth the Edges (Optional) For this specific look, I kept it natural. However, if you want a sleeker finish, you can quickly run a heat tool over your edges to lay them down before finishing the rest of your hair.

5. Add Shine To lock in the look and add a professional glow, rub a few drops of Biosilk Silk Therapy between your palms and lightly smooth them over your finished style.

That’s it for this look! Be sure to follow for more at home beauty and styling.
